UNDERSTANDING COMMUNICATION OF PEOPLE WITH AUTISM

Nowadays, a lot of people are diagnosed with autism making it an increasingly growing community of people in today's world and because of this understanding them and communicating with them is very crucial for societal integration.

A common phenomenon today is also the broadness of the autism spectrum, which describes their ability to carry out some standard to advanced human functions like verbal communication and free mobility. People on the spectrum are described as high functioning if they can carry out these tasks to a certain degree based on independence, and some are described as low functioning. Because of this ranging difference across the board, communication is never a one for all situation, rather every individual is different. There could be various forms of communication to people with autism like non-verbal gestures, sign language, and board cues among various others.

Ohio EVV Phase II has Begun

Electronic Visitor Verification (EVV) is a result of the 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act). It requires that all 50 states comply with this requirement or suffer penalties that reduce Federal money used to pay for the Medicaid services outlined in the Cures Act. Bottom line, this will cost states money, which in Ohio, will result in penalties and loss of payments to providers. Ohio, like many states, is in the throes of EVV implementation, and for the purposes of national context, this blog will address Ohio's timelines and how it is going for providers in the very early days of implementation.
